Dubai, such a more surprising place. The place with much more money, while you know what to do with, then you would never stop try and try to create the craziest or the biggest things. And now, what is the latest plan? Dubai would have to build the largest arch bridge in the world. 36_idee

It will be 670 feet tall at its highest point in the mile-long bridge. You know what? It is really, really tall. With a metro line running down the center, it will have a whopping 12 lanes of traffic and to carry over 2,000 vehicles per hour, it surely will be able. Certainly it’s not a cheap undertaking, by costing $817 million to build that hasn’t stopped anyone in Dubai before. Plan to be completed in 2012, construction is set to begin next month.

Dutch floating homes

If climate change engulfed the Netherlands with rising sea levels, wouldn’t it be a shame? To smoke legal dope, where would we go? It is also one of the more ingenious ones with the world’s most humane nation. There are architects designing homes floating even in frequently flooded areas that are intended to survive.

An architecture firm, with help from the Dutch government, called Waterstudio is building split-levels on the Maas River banks in Maasbommel. Including enclosed basements, foundations sit on the river bottom. As it does about once every dozen years in some areas, the foundations lift and the houses float to the surface If the water level goes up.

Next step: floating gardens, multi-storey complexes, movable houses, and maybe even floating villages. For design pics, see the Waterstudio website.

While Nokia announced their N96, a new line of phones dubbed the XPERIA has just launched by Sony with starting the XPERIA X1. It’s aimed directly looking like at phones such as the Ocean and Sidekick, it’s got a full QWERTY keyboard that slides out from underneath the phone.

Moreover, it has a WiFi connectivity, 3-inch touchscreen, 400MB of storage onboard, and microSD support. On a modified version of Windows Mobile it runs, so how that’s implemented should break or make this guy. On pretty much every network, It should be able to run both here in in Europe and the US so look for it sometime this summer to hit your local carriers.

It’s phone envy: Nokia’s N96

nokia-n96

Its new N96 superphone that has just announced by Nokia. While loaded with features, it’s beauty of a device that probably without losing some of its best goodies won’t make it here to the states. It’s got a 16GB of internal memory, 2.8-inch screen, and backlit touch buttons that depending on what functions they control, it can change their appearance.

It also can pick up digital TV signals in Asia and Europe, because of it has a built-in DVB-H receiver, where nobody broadcasts those signals; a function that would be pretty worthless here. The $800 pricetag seems kind of tough to justify with speedy 3G access unlikely for it here in the states as well. You just got a new toy to drool over if you are living in Asia and Europe. smile049
