Anti-piracy net keeps seafaring baddies

anti-piracy1

Anti piracy net keeps seafaring baddies. These days, Piracy has become a major issue. I’m not talking about the type of piracy that involves illegally downloading movies and music, although that’s a pretty big issue as well. No, I’m referring to the original pirates: people on boats with guns who take over other boats for profit. Pirates of Somali have been taking over all sorts of boats lately, and people have had about enough of it.

On the Littoral Combat Ship, one deterrent to piracy developed by the Coast Guard is equipped. It’s a long, floating net that’s designed to tangle up the prop of any boat that’s unlucky enough to cross it. They get stranded rather than taking you hostage if pirates approach. To me, it seems like a pretty good alternative.

Speed vest lets everyone know how fast you’re going. You’re well aware of how fast you’re if you’re racing down with a speedometer on the street on a bike equipped. But what about people you’re passing? Don’t you want to rub in their faces how fast you’re flying down the street?

speed vest

Speed Vest does this. With wheel speed sensor and electroluminescent wiring equipped on the back, it displays and states how fast you’re moving and a bright numeric readout that in no uncertain terms. It runs for six hours on a 9-volt battery, which to really show off how fast you can get going down those hills is plenty of time.

Creative way to save waste

package lamp

This is one of creative ways to save waste: by using the packaging as part of the product to make an essential part of the product packaging. For example, the packaging lamp designed by David Gardener, turns into the lamp when opened. The wires, bulb and plug hides by The packaging, but they form a cardboard lamp when you flip the two pieces around.

Not sure with how many pieces of pulp cardboard furniture you’d want made out, but to ensure that there’s no waste whatsoever, this is a really clever way with your product. Perhaps this would have more staying power, if the packaging itself was made of a higher quality material. At least, it’s an interesting idea.
