The new generation 2011 Ford Explorer has been unveiled after a long line of more teaser images. There are some big expectations with the reveal of New 2011 Ford Explorer. This new car will be powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine developing 290 hp and 255 lb.-ft. of torque that promises to offer the best in class fuel economy with a 5,000 pounds towing capability. On a large Facebook campaign, Ford is relying to push the new model, which is expected to cost about $30,000.
Available with an EcoBoost 2.0-liter I-4 engine, the 2011 Ford Explorer developing 237 hp at 5,000 rpm and 250 lb.-ft. of torque between 1,700 and 4,000 rpm. The Ford Motor Company hopes to convince buyers to pay more for less engine power. Ford will heavily promote the new model’s improved fuel efficiency, and notes that it’s actually “an evolved SUV”.
For better cope with the off-road bit of its life, the 2011 Ford Explorer comes with a new 4WD system and a terrain management that offers the driver the choice between four settings on a center console-mounted knob. The 2011 Ford Explorer will be offered with a unique six-speed transmission and a SelectShift Automatic transmission on the XLT and Limited trim levels.
